He was held prisoner of war and then wrote a book about his tribe. They would go into another tribe, steal their food and herds and then run for their lives and that was what it was like to be in an Apache tribe. They also were in a war with the Spanish and the United States, both over land that was the Apache's territory. These are just some things that the Apache did in their time. The Apache were famous for their war and raiding skills, their religion, and their lifestyle.
The Apache were famous for their war and raiding skills as well as their food choices and traditional lifestyle. The Apache tribe hunted and traded their food but rarely made their own food. Corn was one thing that they traded to the Pueblo. The animals that they hunted were foxes, turkeys, jack rabbits, and many other animals. Apache fry bread is one thing that they made on their own and were famous for. The tools that they used for hunting were knives, guns, bow and arrows, bones from animals, and any other thing that they could find natural, steel, or make.

The Apache were also very religious about their gods and believed in different things than other tribes. They would pray to the moon, stars, and the sky for help and advice. They believed that everything had a spirit; some were good and some were bad. The good spirits were animals that they could kill and not be scared that they would haunt them. They could kill birds, for example. Bad spirits that would haunt them that they didn’t kill for food were bears, owls, and coyotes. One of their famous spirits was Pan, a mountain that they believed would help them whenever they needed.
Growing up as an Apache made a boy a man and a girl a leader of a clan. Young boys would serve as army scouts as early as the age of seven. Then they would leave the younger children and then would hunt animals and fight in wars with the men. After the battle the boy would get to participate in their victory party. The girls would help their mothers in their clan. The girls would help the mothers make food, pottery, and clothes for families. Girls could also not be spoken of to prevent fight between their parents. The men did almost everything that the boys did, but they would fight more dangerous animals and fight more than the younger boys did. The women would help their families with their clan. Women would get married by age eighteen and men married by the age of twenty- five.
