The Inuit by Connor
The Inuit people met with other Indians. They were also lived in many groups across the country. Also, they lived in very cold weather, and in the cold weather they lived in igloos. They used seal skin for the walls of their igloos. They also had a very strong trade development with other Indians. The men also made their own tools and hunted, and when they did live in the igloos, they used a hole for light. They also lived in Russia
Next is the food. They hunted caribou, polar bears, fish, wale, and seal. They also ate blubber. The sea animals were used for oil. They needed land animals more than they needed sea animals. They boiled their food over a lamp they made from seal.
Next is the Inuit beliefs; they told legends and myths. The taboo rules forbid them from any activity that brings harm to anything. The shamans can contact the spirit world. They believe that animals gave themselves to hunters. The Inuit believe that the sun and the moon were brother and sister. They believe that spirits were in all things; they also believe when you die, you have a afterlife. The last thing is the Inuit history. They were the first people to live in the tundra and in the upper part of Canada. They were also called Eskimos, which was a insult to the Inuit people.
The Inuit people also were in many wars. They fought with the Sioux and the family tribe the Cree. After many wars they were down in population and they did not fight for a long time and built their population back up. After a long time they became friends with the Sioux and Cree; now they became good hunters and were good at navigating in the dark. Where they lived was a dark place in the winter. They were in very large groups. The Inuit name "real people” and the Eskimos means “eaters of meat” the in Inuit. They also used to wear big coats that was made out of seal of caribou, and when animals would die, they would put snow in their mouths to help the spirit go on to the afterlife, and if they do not do that ,they are punished by the leaders or the taboos.
In conclusion, the Inuit tribe were a good tribe and had good friends and a lot of history. They were well stocked in food and things to hunt.

The Inuit by Brandon
Have you ever heard of the people who carved whale teeth, ivory, and soap? These people are called the Inuit. The Inuit live in the cold arctic. Whenever they go hunting, they have to build an igloo to live in.
In the Inuit tribes, there are medicine people called Shaman. Some people say if a Shaman were to breathe on someone, the Shaman would bring that person back to life. The Shaman also could curse people they disliked. If Shamans needed to ask for help, they would ask a spirit. Since the Shaman are healers they can control illnesses and heal people.
Next the Inuit are hunters and gatherers. In the summer the kids and women would go out and pick berries, roots, and plants. When the Inuit needed water, they would melt snow and ice. The Inuit could not just survive on just berries, roots, and plants, so they would go hunting for meat. Some of the meat they ate were caribou, moose, seal, snow geese, whale, ptarmigan, fox, polar bear, whale cod fish, and walrus.
Also, they were carvers. They would take a piece of ivory, soap, or a whale tooth and carve it. They would carve a person, an animal, or a tool with ivory. Another thing they did was print making.
Lastly, the Inuit needed shelter during hunting season, so they had to make a shelter to live in. They made igloos. An igloo can hold up to twenty people at once. When making an igloo, the weather conditions had to be just right. To keep them from the cold, they wore layers of clothes. They also pierced body parts. To protect their eyes from the snow they had to wear goggles with slits in them. Most of the time when they weren’t hunting, they slept in tents made of caribou and walrus skin.
As you can see, the Inuit did many activities like ice fishing, carving, making tools, and more. Since they lived in the cold, they had to wear layers of clothes. The Inuit would make soap carvings, and the government would help them sell them. That is what the Inuit did most of the time.

This is a soap carving I created.
